Ball Drop Toys

The application of the Monpi-karakuri device ranged from practical goods to toys.
This ball drop toy has two control panels, which are slid in such a way that the holes on the panels fit together, allowing the balls on the panel to drop.
The structure combining the upper panel, which plays the role of switches, and the lower panel, which determines the output value, is considered to be an application of the Monpi-karakuri.

This ball drop toy was originally made as a toy, but it seems to have been actually used as a gambling device.
In this region, where sericulture was flourishing, farmers had cash income. Gambling houses seem to have opened to target this cash surplus. The ball drop gambling device was one of the games that were used there.
There were no unified rules, and the method of play seems to have differed from place to place.
